Indonesia
In August 2008 Austraining International was contracted to provide training in assets management for local government officials from the island of Nias under the Indonesia Australia Special Training Program (IASTP III). Nias was seriously affected by the March 2005 earthquake and is receiving a number of new assets from a range of donor agencies as part of the reconstruction program. This training is being delivered in Medan and the aim is to provide practical, hands-on asset management skills and knowledge in order to effectively plan, maintain and manage new and existing assets and infrastructure.
Indonesia
In June 2008 Austraining International was contracted to provide training in school-based drug prevention under the Indonesia Australia Special Training Program (IASTP III). Due to an increasing prevalence of drug related incidents invovling school-based users the Indonesian National Narcotics Board has established a strategy for the prevention of drug abuse and one of its focus areas is school-based prevention. This training is being delivered in Surabaya, Mataram and Kendari and the aim is to provide school and university teachers and administrators, Narcotics Board personnel, local government representatives and staff from NGOs with some interactive educational techniques that can be utilised in order to reduce drug abuse in schools.
Indonesia
In March 2008 Austraining International was contracted to provide training in key performance indicators for measuring gender mainstreaming under the Indonesia Australia Special Training Program (IASTP III). This training is being delivered in Surabaya, Mataram, Makassar, Kendari, Ambon and Jayapura and the aim is to provide local government staff with the skills to be able to develop, measure and report on key performance indicators which measure both gender and budget effectiveness.
Australia/Indonesia
In February 2008 Austraining International was contracted to provide economic development training under the Indonesia Australia Special Training Program (IASTP III). The project is being delivered in several locations in Australia and Indonesia and aims to promote good governance through improved economic management practices through the delivery of specialised short-term training courses.
Indonesia
In February 2008, PT Austraining Nusantara (PTAN) was awarded the contract for Phase II of the Bird’s Head Business Empowerment Program (BHBEP), a BP initiative to improve the capabilities of Papuan Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to enable them to compete for opportunities (supply of goods and services) required by OGM companies in the Bird’s Head region of West Papua. This two year contract (2008-2009) follows the successful implementation of Phase I of BHBEP by PTAN for IFC-PENSA and BP from July 2006 to December 2007. The key objectives of Phase I were to:
- Increase the value, quantity and proportion of OGM procurement with local SMEs.
- Strengthen business, management and technical viability of targeted SMEs.
- Increase SME competitiveness and access to alternative markets.
- Promote adjusted, institutionalised supply chain management systems within OGM partners aimed at promoting SME development.
- Promote sustainable, broad-based economic development in the target areas.
In addition to consolidating the existing program of business improvement, Phase II of BHBEP will focus on a plan of training and mentoring aimed specifically at SMEs achieving pre-qualification for contracts and access to market in recognition of the fact that 2008 is the first year of tendering for BP Tangguh Operations.
